Dora and Anella are playing church and I just heard Dora say, "this is the covenant of my body... this is the covenant of my blood... take it, as long as you remember me." :-)
Isaiah 40:11 "He will tend his flock like a shepherd; he will gather the lambs in his arms; he will carry them in his bosom, and gently lead those that are with young."

Yall ready for this?
That line will forever make me think of high school basketball pep rallies.
which has nothing to do with this post...
See those chubby little toes in the middle? They're walking now. Hope will turn 1 next week and she is a joy and a blessing all day long. She's very able to make herself known around here. She loves to say hi (which comes out as, "ha") to everyone after naps or waking up in the morning. Her little arm just keeps flapping until everyone says hi back.
She seems a little more interested in being in the middle of life than my other babies were. She isn't really interested in patty cake or reading books, she just wants to be a part of what everyone else is doing. :-) She throws herself at whatever we're doing like she's the boss. One of her favorite past times is trying to splash in the water that drops into the dishwasher door while we're putting away dishes. She has a soft place for John Patrick, which could be because he isn't always trying to lug her around like so many potatoes. :-)

Happy Birthday a little early!!
One last little gift Hope gives me every evening at bed...she lays her head on my shoulder for a bit then leans into her crib, curls up in a ball, closes her eyes, sucks her thumb and is out like a light.
You are a joy to watch grow and learn, Hopey. We are all so thankful God gave you to us.

Try Elizabeth Mitchell. You'll get Raffi too but it's kids songs I can stomach! :-)

conversations
Me: let me see if I can guess all your favorite foods... Hope likes milk, (everyone agrees) Anella likes pizza, (she claps) Dora likes lasagna (she agrees), Buster likes steak (he agrees). Sooooo what is Mama's favorite food?
John Patrick: You eat everything.
I was trying to set a good example but he makes it sound a little piggish.
The next day,
Anella, "You make these cookies lady?"
Me, "yes."
Anella, "That's amazing!"

First grade and many other things
This is an incredibly haphazard post but here goes...
The Hendrix family reunion 2011~ Dana, Indiana. :-)
It's picture time again. The summer heat is letting up which makes for a better time taking outdoor shots. Although you wouldn't have known it on the day this picture was taken. The boys did great in the heat. How cute are these four?
Does anyone else remember this girl 4 years old and telling us all what the correct doctrinal terms were in Sunday school? :-)
She's considering medical school this fall!!
Compared to last year, the first day of first grade was a total piece of cake. John Patrick was excited to be a big kid and stay for lunch. I don't think he had thought much past lunch though. :-) We've all learned a lot in the last year and although we're still exhausted, I'm hopeful. Things seem like a smoother transition this time.
Here, Aunt Kuk, is the picture you wanted me to try.
She really just wanted to keep kissing the baby.
It never ceases to amaze me how many people think flying is a good reason to wear everything from spandex to stilettos. And sometimes both at the same time. I'll admit I walk through the airport with my mouth open like a cod fish. (name that movie?)
Then there's this girl...
What uuuuuup mommy!
What uuuuuup mommy! Who lets their daughter out with ruffles on her tushy anyway!?
